In the spotlight ‘v’ being backstage
- Do you thrive in the spotlight or do you shy away from being the centre of attention?
- And what happens when you have to switch between the two?
- Are you used to putting on an Oscar winning performance – at work or with your family – where everything is ‘fabulous, darling’ while you are the headline act but how does it feel when you’re backstage again, everyone’s gone home and you put your ‘mask’ down?
- Or, you could love being the supporting artist but how do you handle things when you are asked to take centre stage?
If this is you, I feel you.
Who are you without the trappings of wardrobe, make up, your entourage? Maybe you feel stripped bare, vulnerable?
What are you left with without your job title, your status, the familiarity and structure of the corporate world?
And I wonder how you feel when you pull up on the drive, shut the front door and sink into ‘normality’ … somewhere where all the things that you rely on at work, the things you have worked so hard for, suddenly mean nothing!
Maybe there is something within you that tells you ‘should’ be in that spotlight – but somehow it feels too scary, too big, and that critical voice is back again and this time it’s saying what if you fail, what if you make a fool of yourself?
Do you brush aside your creative aspirations by telling yourself you’re just being a dreamer, you’ve got your head in the clouds with ideas above your station. Those opportunities are not for me because I’m not (insert your negative comment of choice here) enough.
This is something we can work on together.
We can look at:
- What your hopes & dreams are and how to set, update or focus on powerful and effective goals
- Learning about yourself, reflecting on your current situation and exploring where (or who!) you would like to be
- Finding your purpose and direction in life
- Identifying and banishing limiting self beliefs
- Increasing self confidence and feeling empowered
